My Jewellery Making Journey

Hi, I’m Katie Parker — a jewellery maker, gemstone lover, wirework specialist… but first and foremost, a proud mother and wife. Everything I create, I do with my family at heart.

Originally a freelance hairdresser, I had to step away from my career after a serious arm injury following the birth of my second child in 2013. It was a difficult time, but also the beginning of a new chapter. During my recovery, I discovered jewellery making — and it gave me back the creative spark I thought I’d lost.

My passion for gemstones began even earlier, over 14 years ago, when I first studied gemstones and crystal healing. Bringing that knowledge into my jewellery designs felt like a natural progression, and today I use only carefully sourced, genuine gemstones in my work — quality is everything to me.

What started with a strand of aquamarine, a bundle of amethyst, and a few stretchy bracelets has now grown into Katie Parker Jewellery, an independent small business rooted in creativity, care, and craftsmanship.

I work with a variety of materials, but I have a special love for wirework and seed beading, often incorporating genuine Swarovski elements into my designs. I opened my Etsy shop to share the pieces I love most, and through consistent effort, social media, and a deep belief in what I do, my designs began finding their way into the hands of people who truly appreciate handmade jewellery.

Every piece I make is filled with heart, created to be worn, gifted, and treasured. Whether you’re here to browse, shop, or join me on a creative journey — thank you for supporting what I do.

The Next Stage

As my confidence and skills grew, so did my passion. I found joy in learning new techniques and pushing my creativity further — from simple threading to intricate wire weaves and delicate seed beadwork. Each new design was a step forward, and every piece I created helped me heal a little more, both physically and emotionally.

Soon, jewellery making became more than just a hobby — it became a part of who I am. My home turned into a studio, my kitchen table became a design bench, and the sparkle of gemstones became a daily sight in our family life. My children often watch me work, sometimes even helping choose colours or offering their thoughts (honest and unfiltered!), making my creative world even more meaningful.

As I built my Etsy shop, I began connecting with a wider community — other makers, jewellery lovers, and customers who appreciated the heart and craft behind handmade work. With each sale, each message of thanks, and every returning customer, I felt my purpose being renewed.

Now, I run Katie Parker Jewellery full-time from my home studio, with my family at the centre of it all. I design and create jewellery that celebrates nature, movement, style, and wearability — pieces that make people feel special and connected. I also offer online workshops, sharing the skills and joy of jewellery making with others, helping beginners and seasoned makers alike discover their own creative spark.

What started with a strand of gemstones has become a journey of resilience, passion, and purpose. And while trends and tools may change, one thing remains the same: every piece is made with care, love, and the hope that it will bring a little beauty into someone’s life.

2022

Fast forward to 2022.... For most of us, 2020 changed so much. For me it has changed my business in ways I never thought it would. In April 2020 I started a YouTube Channel of my own of the same name Katie Parker Jewellery, by December 2020 I was thrilled to have over 1K subscribers.

As of April 2022 I have over 16.5K subsrib and my channel is going from strength to strength.

I also took my Jewellery Making Workshops online via Zoom during 2020. I love this way of learning and I will be continuing using Zoom for worshops in the future too as well as eventually getting back to real world workshops too. I expect to create more workshops in 2022.

2025 ...

Over the last few years my workshops have grown and I have now closed my Etsy shop to concentrate on my workshops and social media. My YouTube channel is going from strength to strengh with over 40K subscribers. I'm so thankful for being able to do what I love as my main job.

I have collaborated with Relax n Craft and now help create regular subscription boxes with myself as the inspriration designer.

And just recently I have had the pleasure of working with Fleur of Relax n Craft and Jem of Jem Hawkes Jewellery in a venture to make the world of jewellery making a happier place. Every last Monday of the month you will find all 3 of us Live on YouTube streaming simultaneously to all our respective channels. We are all about having funna nd helping you with your jewellery making dilemmas.
